Who said that the best vodka is produced in Eastern Europe? That must have been the reasoning behind Geoff Ross, who, in 1999, after reading that the best vodkas are made in pure, unspoilt places, decided to try his hand at making them in his home country of New Zealand, famous for its pristine, untouched landscapes. George then began distilling Vodka below the 42nd parallel, hence the distillery's name, 42 Below. The business soon took off and became a full-time job. Year after year, sales grew by leaps and bounds until Bacardi took ownership in 2010. A very special story, which makes Pure Vodka one of the benchmark products in the spirits sector for its authenticity, obtained from absolute quality ingredients.
Pure Vodka is made by the 42 Below distillery from naturally grown, non-genetically modified grain kernels; the kernels are crushed, cooked in water and fermented. This starts the distillation process, which is repeated three times to ensure that the heart of the distillate is of absolute quality. Then the final high alcohol content is reduced using pure water from an uncontaminated aquifer.
Pure 42 Below Vodka presents itself in the glass with a completely transparent, very clear and crystalline hue. Olfactory examination reveals slight sweet notes, with some nuances reminiscent of aniseed. On the palate, it has a soft taste, appealing, with a pleasantly fresh and clean sip. It is the cornerstone of the entire range made by 42 Below, and is the ideal bottle to reserve for the most sophisticated and exclusive cocktail parties.
